THALES Flat Panel Detectors

A 7-million pixel image within 1.4 seconds

FlashScan digital flat-panel detectors provide a total imaging solution for conventional NDT. Easy to install and plug & play, FlashScan detectors replace film technology. They are based on amorphous silicon TFTs, generating high-resolution corrected radiographic images within 1.4 seconds, immediately available for further processing at system level. High-energy versions of FlashScan detectors are also available for inspection of thicker materials.

Thales flat panel detectors are designed, developed and manufactured at an ISO 9001:V2000, ISO 14001 and EN 46001 production site registered.

FlashScan 23
FlashScan 23 Flat Panel X-Ray Detector


The FlashScan 23 digital imaging subsystem has been specifically designed for integration into nondestructive testing equipment with computer acquisition and can be used at energy level up to 160 keV.

Its format with 9" x 9" active image area and its wide dynamic range eliminate the need for X-Ray film in many radiographic applications. Just seconds after exposure, the FlashScan 23 generates 14-bit grayscale images, with film-like quality details,which can be viewed immediately on a computer screen.

The FlashScan 23 is a highly integrated subsystem including amorphous silicon image sensor array, X-ray conversion screen and supporting electronics and interface unit.


FlashScan 35
FlashScan 35 Flat Panel X-Ray Detector

The FlashScan 35 digital imaging subsystem has been specifically designed for integration into non-destructive testing equipment. Its large format (12" x 16" active image area) and its wide dynamic range eliminate the need for X-Ray film in many radiographic applications. The FlashScan 35 generates 14-bit grayscale images, with film-like quality details, which can be viewed immediately on a computer screen.

With a 0.127mm pixel pitch the panel has a limiting resolution of just under 5 line pairs per mm. Non-uniformity, after correction is better than 1%, so radiographic images demonstrating 1% by contrast can be acquired. The panel has a 1.4 second readout time, and with an external trigger, can be used to capture exposures of 1.4 to 120 second duration.




FlashScan 33
FlashScan 33 Flat Panel X-Ray Detector

The FlashScan 33 digital imaging subsystem is an engineering version FlashScan 35 that facillitates imaging at high x-ray energies. When used normally it can be used to for radiographic imaging from 30 to 160kV. With appropriate sheilding, it can be used for imaging in the MeV range.

Shaw Inspection Systems can provide a range of integrated sheilding systems that allow the panel to be operated at, 2, 4, 9, and 15MeV.
