Kodak and Computed Radiography

Modern computed radiography, using storage phosphor imaging plates, can be traced to 1973, when George Luckey, a research scientist at Eastman Kodak Company, filed a patent application titled Apparatus and Method for Producing Images Corresponding to Patterns of High Energy Radiation. In 1975, when George’s patent (US 3,859,527) was approved, Kodak also patented the first scanned storage phosphor system, thus giving birth to modern computed radiography.

With the ACR-2000’s phosphor imaging plate, you can shoot one image instead of the five or more you may need to shoot on film.
