IMPS III Manipulator Control Module

The IMPS III Manipulator Control Module provides full software control of a wide variety of Manipulators. Shaw Inspection Systems supply a broad range of standard component manipulators, for handling components from millimeter (gram) scale to meter (100s kg) scale.

In addition to component manipulators Shaw Inspection Systems also supply a range of standard tube and detector manipulators. Tube head manipulators may also include: tube head changeover mechanisms; mechanized collimation; filter slides or wheels; and mechanisms for introducing fixed apertures or warm up plugs into the x-ray beam. Detector manipulators can include: detector changeover mechanisms; collimators or shutter assemblies; mechanisms for introducing lead masks; x-ray beam compensation pieces; and image quality indicators (IQIs). into the field of view.

Typical IMPS III Manipulator Control Module functions include axis selection, demand position, movement speed, home or dataum, move and stop. Indications include Auto / Manual control mode selection and current position. In Auto mode manipulator control is entirely under software, while in Manual mode the manipulator can be controlled using manual controls such as joysticks. As with all other IMPS III Control Modules the Manipulator Control Module provides a full scripting, or macro interface, and manipulator movements can be recorded and repeated using IMPS III Teach 'n' Repeat capabilities.
