IMPS III Image Acquisition Control Module

The IMPS III Image Acquisition Control Module provides full software control of a wide variety of
X-Ray Detectors. Shaw Inspection Systems supply a comprehensive range of x-ray detectors for virtually every Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) application. Detectors can be supplied for every digital technique including:

• Real Time Radiography (RTR);
• Digital Radiography (DR); and
• Computed Radiography CR);
• Computed Tomography CT); and
• Film Digitisation (FD).

All the main detector technologies are supplied by Shaw Inspection Systems including:

• Screen coupled CCD based systems;
• Image Intensifier coupled CCD based systems;
• Flat Panels Detectors;
• Linear Detector Arrays (LDAs); and
• Time Delay Integration (TDI) devices.

Common functionality includes Continuous (Live) acquisition, single frame acquisition (Acquire), continuous Noise Reduction, and Frame Integration, exposure time adjustment, and automatic image correction. Other detector specific functions may include the selection of different detector modes, and gain modes. Each detector has its own dedicated engineering setup window, giving access to all the software controls provided by the detector. These may include the selection of output image orientation, regions of interest, and pixel binning modes amongst others.

Close integration of hardware controls within IMPS III allows for synchronisation with other devices such as pulsed x-ray sources, and manipulators. As with all other IMPS III Control Modules the Acquisition Control Module provides a full scripting, or macro interface, and acquisition parameters can be recorded and repeated using IMPS III Teach 'n' Repeat capabilities.
