IMPS III 3D CT Control Module

The IMPS III 3D CT Control Module provides three main software tools:

• 3D CT Wizard - allows users to quickly set up and scan a component to obtain 3D CT data.
• 3D CT Reconstruction - allows users to refine reconstruction from existing acquisition data.
• CT Image Viewer - allows the user to view all the projection data obtained during the CT acquisition. The viewer also includes tools for animating the acquisition sequence to produce an AVI file.
• CT Volume Viewer - allows the operator to view the results of previously completed CT inspections. The viewer also includes tools for animating slices to produce an AVI file.
• CT Scan Merge - allows the operator to manually merge two scans to create one single projection data set. This allows objects wider than the field of view of the detector to be scanned.
• CT Volume Merge - allows the operator to manually merge or stack two or more 3D CT Volumes to create one single volume data set.

3D CT Wizard

The 3D CT Wizard facility allows users to quickly set up and scan a component to obtain 3D CT data. The 3D CT Wizard, is a software tool designed to lead the user through the entire sequence necessary for successful 3D CT data acquisition and reconstruction. The Wizard leads the user through a number of distinct steps, from selecting:

In the final step slice acquisition and reconstruction is perfromed simultaneously.

On completion of the Wizard repeat runs may be easily perfromed on the same sample to refine the acquisition and reconstruction parameters. If no changes are acquisition and reconstruction can be started at the click of a button!

3D CT Reconstruction

In addition to the 3D CT Wizard, a separate 3D CT Reconstruction tool is also provided. The main purpose for this tool, is to refine the reconstruction of 3D CT slices from acquisition data already obtained using the 3D CT Wizard, or to reconstruct comparable data obtained from other systems.

Functions include the setup and editing of CT acquisition parameter files, volume definition (resolution, cut off radius, volume of interest), output data type selection, tools for determining the centre of rotation, inverse filter selection, beam hardness correction, amongst others.
