The MXB range of Modular X-Ray Bays from Shaw Inspection Systems provide a radiation safe environment for radiographic inspection up to 450kV in a variety of modular constructions.

Based on standard lead panel widths, floor footprints and total volume can be tailored to meet customer requirements, both in respect of external space constraints, and internal equipment configuration.

In addition to being able to host a wide range of digital and film replacement detection systems, the MXB is also ideal for traditional radiography.

Benefits

Installation of an MXB does not require planning permission. The system is delivered in flatpack form and its uncomplicated, modular design facilitates speedy installation and commissioning. In addition to being simpler and faster to install than traditional lead brick structures, the finished product realises up to a 35% cost savings. Compared to alternative concrete structures, as well as providing a long term, high value asset, the MXB can be easily dismantled and relocated to another location if desired.

Construction

The MXB is designed around a strong steel framework upon which chevron machined lead plates of 750mm width are fixed. The thickness of the lead is enginnered to the kV rating of the x-ray source to ensure a radiation safe operating environment during any inspection procedure.

Internally the supporting structure allows for load bearing gantries and fixtures to be sited to suit, whilst the exterior of the bya is covered using optional steel or plywood cladding to protect the lead, and then painted to give a professional, aesthetically pleasing finish.

Scope of Supply

Shaw Inspection Systems offers a full design, construction and installation service to accompany the MXB range. Standard supply provides for an externally finished, radiation safe enclosure complete with safety interlocks and motorised access doorway. Additional options range from internal fixtures and their installation, through x-ray sources, radiographic detection media and accessories, to the provision of a fully customised inspection facility.
