There are many situations in the natural sciences (biology, zoology, geology, geography, etc) where scientists want to explore the internal structure of samples and specimens without using destructive methods. Digital Radiography (DR), Real Time Radiography (RTR) and increasingly Computed Tomography (CT) can provide such scientific information.
Specific applications are as varied as are the samples, and include examination of insects, bone, wood, fruit, seeds, shells, rock, and aggregates to name just a few. Increasingly, radiographic imaging is being used to observe and quantify the effect of processes in samples. For example the flow of gas, water and oil through geological samples and the effects of heat, pressure and humidity on specimens. The time frame of these process, may be seconds, or years.
Shaw Inspection Systems manufacture a range of standard systems which are ideal for such studies. In cases where a standard system is not viable, for example fitting a CT system around a presses, and environmental chambers, Shaw can provide custom systems tailored for your requirements.
