Mechanical Fitter
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor.
Qualifications
Ideally qualified to C&G or equivalent.
Experience
A minimum of three years experience in precision assembly and installation of mechanical equipment.
Summary
Responsible for the precision assembly and small part manufacture for x-ray equipment both 'in house' and at 'on site' installations.
While largely based in Shaw Inspection System's workshop, the position will entail occasional national and international travel. On site work may entail working in a wide variety of working environments and conditions.
Background
Shaw Inspection Systems Ltd a £3M turnover company based in Great Yarmouth specialising in the design and manufacture of Digital X-Ray imaging equipment and systems for industry. Our products are used primarily for Non Destructive Testing of industrial components covering a wide range of applications including Aerospace, Aeronautical, Automotive, Military, Nuclear, Petro-chemical and Pharmaceutical.
SIS produce a wide and varied range of products, usually customised to suit customers requirements. Items tend to be produced as singles or in small batch quantities and close control of manufacturing activities is required to ensure manufacture and procurement is completed on schedule ready for in house assembly and testing.
Responsibilities
- General assembly of x-ray equipment and machinery, piece part machining and mechanical construction both 'in house' and 'on site'.
- Precision assembly of x-ray radiation shields, which requires working with lead products.
- Providing technical support to the design department concerning 'as built' modifications and improvements.
- Assistance with occasional 'heavy lift' operations for the assembly and / or installation of x-ray equipment.
Key Skills
- A minimum of three years general experience precision assembly and installation of mechanical equipment.
- Ideally qualified to C&G or equivalent.
- General tool room experience would be an advantage.
- Training will be provided as required.
