Commissioning Engineer

Reporting to the Projects Manager.

Qualifications
 
Bachelor’s degree or HND equivalent in an engineering subject.

Experience
 
A minimum of three years general experience in service and maintenance of x-ray equipment, general industrial machinery and micro processor control systems.

Summary
 
Responsible for the commissioning, testing, performance demonstrations and customer handover of X-ray products.

The position will coordinate SIS technical disciplines on a project specific basis and provide the technical point of contact for both SIS management and the customer throughout the life of a project.

Background
 
Shaw Inspection Systems Ltd a £3M turnover company based in Great Yarmouth specialising in the design and manufacture of Digital X-Ray imaging equipment and systems for industry. Our products are used primarily for Non Destructive Testing of industrial components covering a wide range of applications including Aerospace, Aeronautical, Automotive, Military, Nuclear, Petro-chemical and Pharmaceutical.

SIS produce a wide and varied range of products, usually customised to suit customers requirements. Items tend to be produced as singles or in small batch quantities and close control of manufacturing activities is required to ensure manufacture and procurement is completed on schedule ready for in house assembly and testing.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning and testing of electro – mechanical – radiation elements of x-ray products both in house and on site.
• Compilation of commissioning schedules, performance demonstration documentation, technical reports and associated safety cases.
• Pre commissioning checks and inspection of x-ray product final builds.
• Direct assistance to software personnel for system calibrations and radiographic procedure development.
• Organization and supervision of project specific equipment performance demonstrations.
• Technical reporting on general progress, queries and concessions back to SIS Project and Design Management.

Key Skills

• Minimum of three years general experience in industrial x-ray applications.
• Minimum of five years further experience as a ‘commissioning engineer’ with oil and gas or power generation back ground.
• Good background knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering practice.
• Good general knowledge of associated QA and Safety management procedures.
